Basement Lighting - Natural Options

There are a number of imaginative ways to introduce light into your dark basement, possible solutions could include Sun Pipes, Window Wells or the Sun House examples are shown below.

Sun Pipe The Sunpipe seen here gathers the Sun's rays from it's locatio at the base of the house and with the help ofthe pipe's mirrored inner coating it reflects the rays down in to the basement below.

Once installed Sunpipes cost nothing to run as the harness the Sun's rays and channel the light in to your room, lighting it for free from drawn to dusk, even on an overcast day they bring light into otherwise inaccessible basement areas.

sunpipe A close up view of a Sunpipe on the exterior of the house. Sunpipes are an ideal way of lighting basements, this is because the very nature of a basement is that it is underground and they are often de-void of any natural light through the lack on standard windows.

window well The Window Well pictured above is another way to introduce natural light into a dark basement. The Window Well which unlike a Sunpipe maybe opened to allow fresh air in can be built into the roof of the basement acting very much like any standard roof light.
